The books of John Quirk

About John . . .

John Quirk was born in Douglas, Isle of Man in 1970. Bakery loaf wrapper, T-shirt printer, sunbed delivery hunk - he tried everything bar lap dancing to avoid responsibility until the features editor on his local newspaper rescued his begging letter from the rejection pile and took a chance.

John studied journalism at the University of Central Lancashire, before volunteering to teach English in Moldova. Back in the UK, he trained on the Chorley Guardian before returning home in 1996, where he worked as chief reporter and, coming full circle, features editor for Isle of Man Newspapers.

In 2006 he did what all journalists vow never to do. He sold his soul to the public relations devil and hasn't looked back. He now works as an account executive at Isle of Man Advertising & PR.

John's first book, The Manx Connection, was published in November 2007. His follow-up, The Manx Giant, should be in shops in time for Christmas 2008, if he can get a wriggle on.

With his wife, Emma, John is in the process of establishing a small publishing business - find out more at Nemesis Publishing
